MESOPOTAMIA
2015
Mesopotamia is a humid, lush, subtropical region in northeastern Argentina. Its name originates from its resemblance to the historical region of West Asia, also known as the “land between rivers.” Mesopotamia is characterized by jungles, reddish soils, swamps and fertile pastures, and is home to some of the most popular destinations in Argentina, such as the Iguazú Falls, the Jesuit mission ruins, the Iberá Wetlands and the El Palmar National Park. Its biodiversity is unmatched. No other place back home holds the amount of life forms this region does. Back in 2015 I had the chance to visit Misiones, the northernmost province of Mesopotamia and one of the many traditional Guaraní homelands. As I unearthed the secrets of the jungle, I knew it would be hard to say goodbye.
