NORTH INDIA

2011

My journey through India included visits to emblematic sites like the holy Ganges river, in Varanasi, the most sacred river to Hindus; the Taj Mahal, in Agra, an ivory-white marble mausoleum considered the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World; Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site historically founded as the capital of the Mughal Empire; Rishikesh, a vegetarian-only and alcohol-free city known as the “Yoga Capital of the World”; and Chandigarh, one of the earliest planned cities in post-independence India, internationally known for its architecture and urban design by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. These and many other places have made me refer to my trip to India as a hard to beat once-in-a-lifetime experience.
