SAN DIEGO

2017 - 2023

San Diego has been my home since 2017. I never imagined I would end up living in the United States, but a job opportunity opened up and I didn’t hesitate to take it. Historically home to the Kumeyaay Native Americans, San Diego’s current culture is heavily influenced by its proximity to Mexico, with a quarter of its population being Mexican-American. San Diego might not be as culturally diverse as other major cosmopolitan cities around the world, but its mild year-round Mediterranean climate, extensive beaches, parks and other environmental features, as well as its research, science and manufacturing focused economy, attracts people from all over the world. The city was built over mesas, separated by a vast network of canyons, creating narrow pockets of wild open spaces scattered throughout the city, giving the city a segmented feel that is enhanced by its low-density development. Its rugged topography against the ocean creates a number of different habitats within the city limits ideal for a wide range of outdoor activities. All these factors, and having met a wonderful community of international friends and colleagues, have influenced my decision to lengthen this chapter of my life.
